Matt Wolf’s new film TEENAGE can only be described as a “living collage” of diary entries, archival footage, and filmed portraits of real teenagers from the end of the 19th century to the first half of the 20th America. The film follows teens, (before we even knew what teens were) from England to Germany, whether party-crazed Flappers or hip Swing Kids, zealous Nazi Youth or frenzied Sub-Debs — and in an incredibly informative and entertaining way!
The film was inspired by Jon Savage‘s book, is scored by Bradford Cox (Deerhunter, Atlas Sound), and is voiced by actors Jenna Malone (Donnie Darko) and Ben Whishaw (Cloud Atlas, Skyfall) among others.
Teenage opens at the Landmark Sunshine in New York City today, but check out their website for other showtimes across North America and the rest of the planet. We highly recommend checking this one out!
