Troye Troye sat down with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang on Wednesday’s episode and spent a chunk of it taking apart the “Khia Asylum,” internet shorthand for the purgatory a pop star lands in once the discourse decides they’ve flopped. His point: the sentence isn’t handed out evenly.
“The straight boys might talk shit about you online, but either they don’t care or they don’t get it as bad,”
he said, laying out how women and queer artists get punished for the same missteps straight men walk away from clean, all while getting told to reinvent themselves every era just to stay in the conversation.
He also discusses his fourth album, She’s the Best, arrives October 9.
