!! OMG, ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ actor Edi Patterson has some choice words for United Healthcare !!
Actor and comedian Edi Patterson, known for her standout roles in The Righteous Gemstones and Vice Principals, took to Instagram last night to share news about her mother’s recent health crisis, along with the frustrating and infuriating roadblocks they’ve faced with her insurance “provider”, United Healthcare.
Earlier this month, Patterson’s mother became seriously ill and was admitted to the hospital. When it came time for her to transition to a rehabilitation facility to continue her recovery, the family received devastating news: United Healthcare denied authorization for the rehab stay.
The company then also refused a peer-to-peer review with a doctor at Cedars-Sinai—a standard process that often helps resolve such cases.
In a series of Instagram stories, Patterson detailed the experience and voiced her outrage over the insurance giant’s decision. United kept having them removed. She attempted to repost the story multiple times, and as of last night, a final post appears to remain live on her feed.
Patterson’s story is one of many that spotlight the growing concern over insurance companies denying essential care. Damn. Shame on United Healthcare… if they can even call themselves that.
