!! OMG poignant: the work of pioneering gay artists David Wojnarowicz and Hervé Guibert in ‘For an Early Death’ at Fitzpatrick Gallery in Paris !!

If in Paris, please take a moment to visit For an Early Death, a moving and poignant art show at Fitzpatrick Gallery, curated by Hugo Bausch Belbachir and Thomas Villemin, that brings together the work of American artist and activist David Wojnarowicz (1954-1992) and his French compatriot Hervé Guibert (1955-1991).

Though the two artists never met, their lives and work converge along a similar trajectory, which includes the deaths of their respective mentors Peter Hujar (1987) and Michel Foucault (1984), from AIDS complications, as well as, ultimately, their own.

  1. The word is poignant.

  2. It’s incalculable, how much was lost from our community due to AIDS.

  3. Hey OMG,

Won’t you guys please, PLEASE take the size restrictions away from the images, and make them clickable again?

In order to get to the full resolution, your readers have to currently click “view image,” remove the size restrictions in the address bar (in this case “-780×585” and “-780×520” or whatever it may be next time), and hit enter, in order to get to the original of some of these images. It’s such an unnecessary hassle!

You change this every couple of months, and it just doesn’t make any sense! In this case, SIZE MATTERS!!!
