!! OMG, quote of the day: Jonathan Bailey reveals he was threatened for being gay at a US coffee shop recently !!

“Are you famous?’ And I said something like, ‘I’m really famous for ordering coffee,’ which is actually quite an annoying thing to say”

“And then he got my cap, and he pulled it off my head and he threw it across the room and he said, ‘get out of this f***ing coffee shop, you queer…”

The room went still, Bailey remembers. But he walked over, picked up his hat, and put it back on his head. “If you don’t take that cap off, I’m gonna f***ing shoot you,” said the man from Pennsylvania. “Where I’m from, people like me kill people like you.”

Jonathan credits one girl named Angela that came out, started recording with her phone, so the man left

“My life was threatened. My body believed it; my brain didn’t and it took me a while to really catch up with it. But I’ve got friends and security. There are so many people that don’t. They are surrounded by that every day, and the torment of what that must be like, the amount of fear that was generated… If that’s what children are surrounded by, they’re not going to be able to grow in any way.

– “Bridgerton”, “Fellow Travelers” and “Wicked” star Jonathan Bailey, revealed that his life was recently threatened for being gay in an American coffee shop.

Thank god for Angela!

  1. This is despicable. The “Maga” comment is so wrong, and so are the people who believe this. Racism is rampant in our country, so is the danger to Trans people, gay people and allow us who want our children to study ALL our history-not just what a bunch of ignorant people want them to learn.

  2. That is what happens when you dumb GaysTM support cancervative politicians

  3. I hope that the footage that Angela filmed gets published and that hateful sack of crap gets his face well plastered everywhere for people to know what kind of garbage he is!

  4. A former Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania once said: “ Pennsylvania has Philadelphia in the East, Pittsburgh in the West and Alabama in the middle… “. I live in PA in one of those “where I’m from towns.” My apologies to Mr. Bailey for a fellow citizens ignorance and egregious behavior. The truth is ignorance can be found anywhere. I was gay bashed in San Francisco. You really can’t fix stupid. Let Go and Let Karma. The perpetrator issues are deeper than homophobia.

    • I wasn’t gay bashed in SF but did have two weird racial incidents with African American gentlemen, both on public transit, in the decade that I lived there in the 1990s. One of those incidents was outside The Box which was a popular queer nightclub in the Western Addition, the heavily AA area of SF, and I was with a crowd of people and we’d all been drinking. I doubt it related to my being queer or that person being black (since I can be viewed as a POC as well, by some). I’ll own up that in the second incident, I antagonized the person back which likely provoked him further, because I wasn’t going to take shit on the bus, and again, this wasn’t racial and likely wasn’t homophobic – it could have purely been mental health on the part of that person.

But yes, ignorance can be found anywhere.

And Scotty is likely a bit confused. Yes – that happens, sometimes the person that protests too much is, potentially, closed or has deep seated issues that might arise out of their own personal interest, but those people generally due their attacking in an arm-chair quarterback way – on line, on message boards, via laws or impeding social advances when they are in position of powers (how many times do we hear about gay agents and gay managers telling gay talent to shut up about their sexuality? That happened to Jonathan Bailey – among others). Someone who is going to waive a virtual riffle in person and threaten verbally, again in person, in front of an audience, and act in a threatening and physical manner by essentially assaulting a stranger even if the damage was limited to adrenaline and an item of clothing – isn’t someone to dismiss as purely and putatively homophobic.

  5. Pennsyltucky is real. Pennsylvania isn’t the state of “Brotherly Love.” Most of it is redneck MAGA waste.

  6. More than likely that guy must be in the closet and just couldn’t deal with Jonathan’s hotness in person.

  7. Even though I know homophobia still exists, it’s still hard to believe people act like this in 2023. Sad and shocking and I’m sorry he or anyone experiences that.
