Zohran Mamdani just made DoorDash cough up $131.5 million for stiffing more than 260,000 New York City delivery workers who were underpaid, paid late or not paid at all between 2022 and this past June. It’s the biggest worker settlement in NYC history and the largest ever for food delivery workers in the US.
More than $115 million goes straight to the deliveristas, who’ll get back roughly DOUBLE what they were shorted (some up to $5,000), with payments starting in late October. DoorDash also has to hand the city its pay data every month for the next three years, so someone can finally check the math.DoorDash’s own statement opens with “Simply put, we screwed up.”
