Please retire the term “tone-deaf”, as it is always the wrong choice especially in this context. Using the word tone-deaf reinforces the idea that Deaf and/or non-speaking/non-verbal people are somehow less than and that disability is bad. See ableism. I know that’s not what this blog is about, so please be more creative in the future.
Doesn’t tone deaf come from not being able to differentiate pitch in music rather than referencing hearing impaired people? I would think it’s only insulting or offensive to people like me who suck at singing. I could be wrong but that’s where I thought the origin of the saying comes from.
You’re not wrong – Morgana just needs to take issue with anything and everything to seem enlightened. Too bad they don’t realize the word “tone-deaf” has NOTHING to do with people who actually suffer from hearing impairment. Best just to ignore people like them who take issue with things without a modicum of understanding of what the issue ACTUALLY is.
