  1. Checking out the Barry Manilow article, the Continental Bath photos remind me of the backgrounds used in the movie “The Ritz”, based on the play of the same name. I couldn’t help but laugh at the photo of the guy with the buttons down the side of his pants leading to a set of black, pointy boots. Bet they called him Charlie the Tuna at the bathhouse.

While the article rehashes a well-known fact about Manilow’s working at Continental, it’s full of fascinating photos of the carefree post-Stonewall/pre-AIDS gay scene in New York. The club closed in 1974 and reopened as Plato’s Retreat, a straight swingers club, in 1977. Thanks for posting!

  2. This is nothing revealing. It’s old news, ditto Bette Midler performing there.

  3. Sometimes less is more. Love Murray, love Nick, loved the episode, love queer characters being centered. Don’t love the capitalistic urge to destroy all mystery by rehashing stories to death. That storyline was so beautiful because so much was left to our imaginations. I would much rather a spinoff with a new LGBTQ couple whose fate isn’t sealed.
