!! OMG, quote of the day: Maya Rudolph talks the complications of having black hair while working at a very white SNL !!

“My hair was natural when I started ‘Saturday Night Live,’ but it was so thick to get under the wigs. [The blow-dry station] was on the same hallway as a lot of the dudes’ dressing rooms. And every [expletive] Friday night, we’d hear some [expletive] white guy walking down the hall going, ‘Is something burning in here? What’s burning?’ I’m like — I’m. Get-ting. My. Hair. Done.'”

  1. Well, assuming for her to be annoyed by their comments, they must’ve known the burning smell was coming from her getting her hair done but still commented on it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Because if you work with white guys, especially older ones, they say something once and it’s funny but they never learn that once they say it every time they see you, it’s no longer funny. And with the past history of racism and black hair, she obviously found it VERY annoying.
Take it from someone named Judy. Only white men feel the need to do a Carey Grant impersonation every. single. time. they see you. Not that that’s racist but it’s hella annoying.

  2. “Fucking white guy”

  3. She’s mixed and has natural hair like a African American woman. You need a higher heat than you would to do Caucasian hair and the hair will smoke and smell like it’s burning because of the products.

  4. Why were they burning her hair? Is that normal? And since when is saying “I’m smell smoke. What’s burning” racist??
