!! OMG, quote of the day: Roseanne says that her namesake character will be killed off of ‘The Connors’ by an opioid overdose !!

“Oh ya, they killed her,” she said. “They have her die of an opioid overdose. It wasn’t enough to [fire me], they had to so cruelly insult the people who loved that family and that show. There’s nothing I can do about it. It’s done. It’s over. There’s no fight left.”

Roseanne Barr on the demise of her character after her racist tweet scandal.

  1. Wishful thinking by the writers?

  2. Roseanne fired and euthanized. Harvey Weinstein, Les Moonves, Charlie Rose and Matt Lauer given $120 million golden parachutes. #ThingsThatMakeYouGoHim

  3. Regardless of what you think of Roseanne, I think it’s a low act to be killed off the show SHE created. It’s one thing for the network and co-stars to be offended by her tweets/comments/etc., but for them to carry on making money off the show and characters SHE wrote, SHE created and SHE developed is TACKY TACKY TACKY! Either stand by her or quit the show. They’re just whores chasing $$$.

    • As one of the creators of the show, she had to give permission for it to continue. In one of her better moments, she did, to allow the more than 100 the show directly employs other than actors to keep their jobs. To save those peoples’ jobs, the other actors had to return to. Calling them names for doing so is uncalled for.

It wasn’t like this was the first time she had ever said something vile on Twitter. There’s no way she couldn’t know what would happen if she continued doing that while employed. Also in one of her better moments she tweeted this, which is the tone she should have stopped with rather than trying to cast herself as a victim in this: “Guys I did something unforgivable so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible.”

  4. Roseanne strikes me as a person who is in touch with a lot of controversial issues, and her show was always groundbreaking to me, when I saw she supported Trump I felt very stunned. She was one of the first shows I saw to have a gay person, a lesbian, struggles with bills, abuse, neglect – there were so many things her show touched on – and then this past show with a child who did not conform to a gender, etc.

Rosanne, I don’t understand the logic here. Trump is not a good person, not at all.

A show like yours would have touched on having a Muslim neighbor, or a Hispanic main character that was not in a gang, or selling drugs, as Trump would have the easily persuaded believe. So what is going on, why?

I don’t know why, but I am sorry that you had this happen. I am also sorry that you will never see this, because at one time you had the power to create real change for the people of America who related to the Connor’s and we will be sad to hear that they are taking this road.

However, the character is not dying in a way that does not, even in the pretense that she is dying (Roseanne is on opiates?) will not raise awareness and do some good in it’s own right.

    Hug.

  5. She could have said nothing, realizing that would probably be better considering how much talking carelessly has gotten her in trouble. Or she could have acknowledged how her character’s exit was used to bring attention to how everyday people accidentally overdose on opoids while trying to manage chronic pain, and how that might turn a bad situation into something that does some good. Instead she goes low and calls it an insult. It isn’t, because we know the character isn’t her. The character Roseanne tried to learn from her mistakes and do better than she did before. If only she could have learned more from the character she played all those years.

    • I agree with this, this is what I was trying to say – it stunned me, because her character was so out of character, and then the actual person was so misguided. The hate is coming from a place that is venomous and that is not how Roseanne (character) behaves, and you saying “if only she could have learned more from the character she played” nailed what I was trying to say! Thank you!

    • Very well said.

  6. I hate Roseanne as long as she killed off

  7. Booo Hoooo Hooooo. Always the victim

  8. Maybe she should stop trying to play the victim and take responsibility for her own actions and words. She got herself fired, she got her character killed off, she caused everything she is complaining about, not anyone else.

  9. I wonder if it was Ambien?
