Antarctica’s not as big as they taught us in school. Japanese researcher Hajime Narukawa has corrected some longstanding geographic misconceptions with this proportionally-more-correct world map. It just won a prestigious design award and has the potential to change the way we picture the world.

No map is perfect including this one. A globe is better but not convenient to carry.
In this map, the size of the land masses are closer to reality but the oceans are wildly out of proportion which would not be useful to those who use them for navigating the oceans or skies.
