  1. I liked both films, which are entirely different in concept. The nudity in “GOC” is natural and not in the least bit offensive — except, perhaps, to those Americans who harbour a foreskin phobia. Both actors sport the penis as mother nature would have it.

I didn’t go to the theater to see this film, had to have back surgery and I don’t care how good the film and this film was and is awesome but back pain is no joke… now that’s told, I did get see it in Netflix and I couldn’t stop watching it over and over again, it’s like a novel you can put down. They became real and I became a happy camper that there is a happy ending.

  3. Curious to what celebrities are packing!

  4. Very late to this party but I’m compiling info for a project on LGBTQ cinema. Won’t bother arguing points with anyone because it’s all opinions anyway but, to the person that said the actors in CMBYN are homophobic: untrue! In fact Armie Hammer’s Mother is homophobic, didn’t want him to take the role and wouldn’t see the picture. He spoke about this at length in interviews and press junkets several times. He also said, he didn’t care what she thought! I prefer GOC and it has nothing to do with the sex scenes and everything to do with the visceral and gritty realism of the film. I also thought the acting was better in GOC. O’Connor and Secareanu were brilliant and the supporting cast spot on. In CMBYN, it’s Chalamet’s picture from his first scene to his last but it’s just a bit too glossy and “straights playing Gays” for me.

  5. Both God own country and CMBYN are good LGBT films. However I DO agree with another poster CMBYN was straight washed. Yes I know it is based on a book BUT I personally found the straight sex scenes abhorrent. I also do believe the gay director was TOLD by the studio to tone down the gay sex. It was OFFENSIVE to me that CMBYN did NOT show the GAY SEX. God Own Country did and the media reports the sex scenes are graphic is homophobic BS. GAY men we HAVE SEX! Yet there is an anti gay bias NOT to show the gay sex to appeal to heterosexuals.

  6. It’s really nice to see more male nudity on the big screen. The male form is so beautiful and I hope this trend continues.

  7. @yoppydoo ‘less of a man’….wtf??????

    • This is more of that tired, sad bullshit that we’ve gotten used to seeing on these posts now for years. Behind all that judgement is self-loathing, don’t forget it. And guys out there – particularly young guys – don’t let these negative voices bring any shame to you. Our bodies are beautiful. And dicks come in all sizes. Doesn’t determine how sexy you are or whether or not a beautiful man will want to be with you.

      • What pseudo-psychological drivel! FYI Mike, power play is a fetish so outta here with your silly BS. I’m a “young guy” but age has nothing to do with anything. They’re not vulnerable little flowers; if anything, it’s older guys who are more prone to body issues anyway.

Besides, I clearly stated I’d prefer him anyway. Christ almighty you have your head way up in the clouds.

  8. This one was more lived-in than Call Me By Your Name, has great actors and a great sense of place. One of my favorites of the year.

  9. “Call me by your name” was a straight-washing crap direcred by straight-worshipping director with homophobic actors

    • “Homophobic Actors”. The actors in “Call Me By Your Name” are amazing actors. They’ve never shown an ounce of being homophobic and I HIGHLY doubt they would’ve played gay characters if they were homophobic. It was also an amazing movie. So, maybe you should get your facts right before you decide to open up your irrelevant mouth. K? K.

      • Of course they are “amazing” because they’re “straight”. And since they’re straigh they were too fragile to have any gay sex scenes. Homphobic straight-worshipping piece of filth. The movie, the director, the actors and the ones who try to defend it.

        • Oh,I get it. You’d rather have a movie that is full of gay sex instead of a movie that tells the story of love. You wouldn’t know a good movie even if it hit you in the face. This movie isn’t filth. Neither is the director or actors. So quick to judge when you’re so irrelevant to the human race. Your opinion doesn’t matter now and it won’t matter in the future.

  10. Nice to see they are confident enough to go nude unlike lots of actors in the traditional film media .

  11. And what we get is mostly assholes and elbows.

That made me blush – I’ll never be able to watch the lovely Josh O’Connor the same way in The Durrells again.

  13. Hello-

i bet whoever thinks this is a better film than Call Me By Your Name is doing so
    simply because its more graphic.

  14. Do you think this is a better movie than “Call Me By your Name” simply because this movie has more nudity?

  15. “Manliness” is based on cock size? Here i thought it was based on integrity and disposition! My bad……

  16. Would like to be the meat between those white bread slices

  17. A better movie than ‘Call me by your name’ if truth be told.

  18. Both of them are not bad. Top has a nice ass.

  19. “Less of a man”? How progressive.

  20. Love how the bearded handsome looks more manly but is actually less of a man than the curly one. I’d still choose him though. Good looks win for me.
