!! OMG, WATCH: Sam Asghari talks about new LGBTQ+ rights-centered short “Freedom Of The Fly’ !!

Asghari is part of an upcoming short film that centers on a gay Muslim man who attempts to reconcile his faith and family obligations with his own self acceptance.

“My inspiration behind this short film is to amplify the stories for those that are struggling with their sexuality and to empower them to be themselves because being yourself is beautiful,”

Asghari says in a clip promoting the short film Freedom of the Fly.

“It is already challenging enough to be yourself when it comes to your sexuality or while facing the fears to confront your family.”

Inspired by real events and the headlines still surfacing today, Freedom to Fly channels Asghari’s urgency about the persecution of gay men in his home region and beyond. He’s clear about the aim: to speak up for people living under threats most of the world can ignore.

“Gay men are being executed to this day in different countries and different cultures,” he adds. “It is vital to be a voice for those who are struggling with this situation and amplify their stories.”

The short is reportedly being made with Canada’s 23Production, but details remain thin, including where it will screen and when it will land. Whether Asghari appears on camera or stays behind it, the intent is loud: use visibility to push these stories into the light.
