A New Zealand yarn store has started a drive for hand-knit 100% wool sweaters for penguins caught in a recent oil spill. The sweaters keep the penguins warm until they are able to be cleaned and prevent them from plucking out the oil-soaked feathers, which can lead to a freezing death in the cold water.
If you know how to knit, please consider making one of these sweaters and sending it over to be used by one of these adorable little guys. Full knitting and mailing instructions are here.

I read somewhere online yesterday that New Zealand announced they have received enough sweaters.
