!! OMG, Great news: Denim-on-denim is now acceptable !!

The straight man-gods at Details have spoken and they sayeth really great things! According to them, it is now encouraged that you wear entire outfits made of denim. I don’t have the new issue of the butch style bible yet, but the dandies over at The Awl do, and they’re reporting:

You guys, there are “new rules of denim”! Now (March 18, 2010) “denim-on-denim is acceptable, provided you know what you’re doing….. “The easiest way to approach head-to-toe denim is to go for the chiaroscuro effect. Pair a chambray shirt with clean, inky jeans.”

Chambray? Chiaroscuro? SOUNDS CONFUSING. No matter. I’ve already adopted this sophisticated 2010 look: I’m sitting here typing in an acid washed dungaree jumpsuit, a jaunty denim beret, and paint-spattered bluejean Chucks. Brunch, brunch fashion, baby! (And thanks for the go-ahead, Details!)

  1. I never knew it was not acceptable in the first place — I thought DSquared had been doing that look season after season already — as long as you look like a model and/or are thin enough, you can totally pull off the denim/denim thing (well, except the acid wash — that’s just not going to happen again any time soon.)

  2. NO NO NO!
I have dreaded this day for as long as I can recall, I knew it would be back though
    … this is disastorous
