!! OMG, RIP Kate McGarrigle !!


Sad news from north of the border: The family of Kate McGarrigle confirmed today that the Canadian folk legend died on Monday after battling a rare form of cancer. She was 63.
McGarrigle is best known for her work with her sister Anna as the McGarrigle Sisters and is the mother of performers Rufus and Martha Wainwright. Together the McGarrigle Sisters released 10 albums, in both English and French, and recorded with a variety of musicians, including Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen and Jarvis Cocker. Kate McGarrigle also frequently appeared on stage with her children, most recently at a Christmas concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London in December.
