A landmark majority of Americans — 54 percent according to a new Gallup “Values and Beliefs” poll — consider LGBT relations morally acceptable. That’s up from 38 percent in 2002. And while that creates a new “normal” for how the US regards gays and lesbians, are we really looking for approval on whether or not we’re “morally acceptable”?

Are we looking for it? No, but it helps my self-esteem. I am sure the same is true for other gay teenagers.
