!! OMG, Republican GOP doesn’t bother trying to hide his racism, refers to ‘colored people’ on the House Floor !!

Disgusting yet somehow, not shocking behaviour on the House Floor *while* the room assembled to hear about amendments to stop bases named after confederate traitors from getting new names. That really says it all.

Good for Joyce Beatty for shutting that down quick. Good Lord. Check out what she had to say after the jump.

Playing language “gotcha!” games is the opiate of the soulless…

I’m pretty sure there’s this term “people of color” going around. Playing semantics isn’t exactly the most genuine form of trying to fight “racism.”

    • Yeah, and people from Japan are described as being Japanese but that doesn’t mean it’s OK to call them a certain three letter slur just because it has similar sounds in it. How do you people find this that hard? Are you trying to erase history in our education system just because you’re so ashamed that you don’t get historical context that you need everyone to be deprived of it?

    • Or we could accept some people don’t like that label and stop using it?

  2. Are we really going there? Is it okay for the “left” to use “people of color”?, because they do. Back to all the language nonsense. I think the solution would be to change the language here to a non-English one. That may even provide time for the word police to actually do something productive. They couldn’t handle all the languages with just masculine and feminine endings.

    • You must be under 30…. and completely ignorant of the history of the term he used. There is no “word policing” about it. That term is as unacceptable and bigoted as the other word often hurled about. Your example is a false equivalency. Try reading some history.

  3. And is constituents don’t give a rat’s ass about it either, they will vote him im again, and I’m sure Nazi Taylor Greene will high five him when they bump into each other at some rally. We either get used to this behavior or we do something about it, unfortunately we’ll have to get used to it.

  4. Rad, look up the word “gerrymandering”. That is how those racist mother duckers stay in power. Or to put it even more succinctly: If your ideas don’t appeal to the majority, your fallback is to cheat.

  5. How is the GOP still a thing, let alone a majority in the House. Only what? 3 seats now between a Democratic leadership taking over?

    • If family dysfunction taught me anything, it’s that ignorant, hateful people abound and that misery loves company, so they’ll stop at nothing until everyone around them suffers.
