!! OMG, Tim Burton isn’t interested in a reboot or remake for ‘A Nightmare Before Christmas’ !!

Empire has a full 30th anniversary celebration of Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas, and the magazine spoke to Burton for their 2024 Preview issue, on sale Thursday, the 23rd.

The director confirmed that over his DEAD SKELETON would he want a reboot or remake of the film. It’s just too special of a film… WOOHOO!

““To me the movie is very important,” he tells Empire. “I’ve done sequels, I’ve done other things, I’ve done reboots, I’ve done all that shit, right? I don’t want that to happen to this…

It’s nice that people are maybe interested [in another one], but I’m not. I feel like that old guy who owns a little piece of property and won’t sell to the big power-plant that wants to take my land.” Cue the grumpy old prospector voice: “Get off of my land!” he barks. “You pesky little… You ain’t getting this property! I don’t care what you want to build on it. You come on my property… Where’s my shotgun?”

AGREED! Thank goodness for people like this that protect the classics. We don’t need another disappointing cheap CGI remake, especially of a stop-motion classic!

  1. I agree, Mr. Burton. I believe that remakes should 1) add something that was left out of the original, or 2) fix something that shouldn’t have been in the original. Redoing something just because the people with the money can’t decide what else to do is just wrong.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of stories out there that would make great audio/visual entertainment. There are hordes of actors who would appreciate the chance to display their talents.

  2. We need more of this. Hollywood needs to be challenging itself to come up with new ideas. We’re in an artistic drought. Instead of remaking everything just teach young people to appreciate older material for being what it was with the tools available at the time.
