!! OMG, Almodóvar and Banderas reunite for ‘terror’ film !!

Pedro Almodóvar and Antonio Banderas will begin shooting the Spanish director’s 18th film The Skin I Live In this week — their first film together in two decades. The slicked-back pscyho type has always suited Banderas so it’s no surprise that Almodóvar cast the aging heartthrob as another baddie: an insane plastic surgeon who imprisons his wife as a sex slave and exacts revenge on the man that raped his daughter. The script is based on the novel Tarantula by French author Thierry Jonquet and, judging from Almodóvar’s recent comments to Spanish newspaper El Pais, it sounds like his darkest effort to date:
“The film will be a terror film without screams or scares,” he said. “It’s difficult to define and although it comes close to the terror genre — something that appeals to me that I’ve never done — I won’t respect any of its rules… It’s the harshest film I’ve ever written and Banderas’ character is brutal.”
The cast also includes Elena Anaya and Marisa Paredes (All About My Mother). Readers who take their foreign films with a healthy helping of kinky sex and screwball comedy will know the pair previously made four films together: Matador, The Law of Desire, Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. (And of course, they also appeared in Madonna: Truth or Dare.) The Skin I Live In is expected to come out in 2011.
