While it may ring true that most people who eat at Applebees are Toms and Karens who think they’re being oppressed for being asked to get vaccinated to save their lives, people who couldn’t give two shits about what happens outside of Amurrrica – it’s still not a tone-deaf look for CNN! Read the room, hon!
Applebee’s and CNN got some shit PR yesterday as Russia began its invasion of Ukraine. Wondering how that’s related? CNN decided that they needed to get those advertising dollars but did not want to cut away from their coverage of the attack on Ukraine, so they combined the two. And they got shit for it. Well, Applebee’s doesn’t appreciate being the newest Internet meme and so they have suspended running ads on CNN.

It’s not their fault when the ad ran. Why should they apologize? People should get upset about innocent civilians being slaughtered, not a commercial.
applebees is straight up, just a place to fucking eat. there isn’t one type of person who eats there, it’s a chain restaurant. it’s one of the only restaurants in a lot of small towns. there’s a fucking war, stop talking about applebees, you’re being distracted.
People are outraged over a commercial during a global pandemic and the invasion of Ukraine. Yep, this is the USA!
