Gay dating app Grindr have announced they will remove their race filter from their search in support of #BlackLivesMatter! This is great! No more omitting connections based solely on the colour of a person’s skin. Grindr has been criticized in the past regarding this filter, but only now has committed to removing it entirely.
Just as many black queens list “ black only” in their profile. But in today’s climate that is ok.
So it only took a global pandemic and widespread rioting for them to do the right thing.
Grindr is a sex app. Nothing more, nothing less . Removing filters isn’t going to suddenly force folks to interact with other folks they aren’t sexually attracted to. If anything it’ll just lead to ignoring of messages and a lot more scrolling. It’s a nice little virtue signal, but it isn’t going to change anything.

It is highly prevalent in the gay community, where racism is rampant. It is more than a sex app. People scroll and ignore each other all the time anyway, if that’s your main drag. Is Grindr itself going to change the world, no, duh. They’re helping in a way that they can. What’s wrong with trying to help?
Hopefully they will replace it with a free gender filter.

I call bullshit. I like guys 40+. Blond/nordic. Smooth. Dad bod. Does that mean if my dick does not get hard for blacks or Asians, I am racist? If I do not like young, am I ageist? Am I body shaming (in reverse) if I do not like body builders? Am I sexist because I like men?
Sometimes we go too far in this age of PC!
No one is forcing you to “get your dick hard” for anyone you don’t like.
It’s just an attempt to eliminate one of MANY things that make racism institutionalized and appear normal. It might even help some people broaden their thinking and be more open to others!

America is coming to a boil. Black people have and are suffering so much injustice in this country, that it can no longer continue functioning in the the same manner that it has been. The ONLY thing Trump has done in his presidency is to give a voice to hatred. Its because of him, the vile underbelly of America has risen to the surface and is more dangerous than ever. I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like to be a black person living in a country where your leader, who is sworn to protect you, hates you and stands with the white supremacists.
And for all you white a-holes that say all lives matter…white people don’t have worry about being murdered by the police every time they leave their homes. Black lives matter isn’t saying white lives don’t matter, its simply saying that black people are just as important as white people.
