!! OMG, quote of the day: Lana Del Rey discusses her marriage to her alleged MAGA hubby !!

“I really feel like there’s kind of a singer’s curse around meeting an honest partner who has no skin in the game, no dog in the race,” she said. “And it’s super nerve-racking to have to hold on to an innocent perception of how things could go when you’re in an industry where maybe your values or your morals don’t quite match up with what’s going on—especially when people think that you probably don’t have any morals or values, so it can get all twisted up.”

Lana Del Rey, talking about her swamp boat captain husband Jeremy Dufrene, whom many fans believe is a MAGA Republican, and alluding to his and/or her political beliefs being at odds with the majority of (allegedly) left-leaning Hollywood.

…Erm, yeah, no shit, Lizzy! It’s not just a hillbilly aesthetic or Pinterest board in the end. People take issue with it because there’s a lot at stake. Sure it’s easy when it doesn’t effect you, but your entire fanbase is basically made up of gays and women, and “not matching up with what’s going on” means voting against their access to healthcare, education, and their basic human rights. Woof.

  1. Great Value Cyndi Lauper isn’t the only one who gives off that secret maga vibe.

  2. Very tired of hearing about Hollywood’s political opinions.
Maybe it is time fo reach beyond victimn card politics and stop forcing people to participate in your self-image.

  3. Maybe her fan base should have made better choices??
Maybe her fan base should hold onto their own lives, instead of vicariously through strangers.
Ultimately, she owes you nothing. Yes, it’s nice when people are compassionate.
But just because you spent money and energy on her, doesn’t mean she has to spend it on you.
    Adults realize this.

    • That’s like saying; you shouldn’t vote and put all of your hopes upon a stranger! The only plausible defense here is that Lana has never really shown herself to be the gal all about love and peace. Her songs are very Americana which can be viewed as based in whiteness. She’s not exactly a huge star. If she is anything other than what her fans think she is; she stands to lose a lot. These people have a platform. Their opinions matter. Perhaps she’ll rebrand and be a Maga queen. I wish her luck with that.

    • This is unsurprising. Her songs are based in Americana but it still is a shame and a disappointment. She has inspired me so much as an artist.
