Dolly Parton’s‘s partner Carl Dean famously stayed out of the spotlight, so a new set of photos of him goofing around with Dolly is a treat!
Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville has released a black and white photo booth strip of the couple from more than fifty years ago. Dolly’s niece Rebecca Seaver told Vogue it turned up in Carl’s old military trunk. In the frames the two of them are tugging at each other’s faces and cracking up.
Dolly met Carl at a laundromat in 1964, on her very first day in Nashville, and they stayed married for nearly 59 years. Carl died last year and Dolly followed this August, so it’s a lot to see them this young and this silly. The museum opened to the public on Tuesday, and these photos will be part of it.
