Cell phone cameras are causing problems for bookstore owners in Japan who feel they are being cheated by teenagers who snap photos of magazine pages to send to their friends. They believe it’s impacting sales, and worst of all the salespeople can’t tell whether the perpetrators are taking pictures or feverishly chatting with each other.
Preventing this kind of “digital shoplifting” seems pretty futile, though they could always just try arresting everyone with a cell phone. (Thanks to Kevin R. for the tip!)
