!! OMG, quote of the day: Jessica Simpson says John Mayer relationship made her feel stupid and turn to alcohol !!

“He was so clever and treated conversation like a friendly competition that he had to win. When I tried to leap back in and say something to add to the dialogue he was having with himself, he would challenge what I said and I’d get quiet. I was so afraid of disappointing him that I couldn’t even text him without having someone check my grammar and spelling. My anxiety would spike, and I would pour another drink. It was the start of me relying on alcohol to mask my nerves.”

Jessica Simpson, who says her alcohol dependency began as a coping mechanism for her anxiety while dating John Mayer after her divorce to Nick Lachey in 2006.

  1. If you think someone is stupid, maybe don’t date them, because whatever causes you to think that isn’t going to go away, and you’re going to be picking at them for something you were well aware of beforehand. Nick did this to her as well and it was hard to watch. Yes, I understand the audience facepalming at some of her more ridiculous statements but it’s different when you’re there with a person, and especially when you’re the partner.

  2. I don’t typically respond to these types of stories. But I do feel for Jessica. I was once in a relationship with a guy who was like this. His quiet arrogance and condescending attitude was like drinking a bit of soul/spirit robbing poison every day. Before I knew it my self esteem had plummeted and I began to question my on value. I hated him and myself for feeling that way. I left that toxic person.
Just because you are clever and have talent that doesn’t mean you are better than another human and entitled to treat them as less than.

To this day if I sniff arrogance and insufferable ego coming from a guy I drop them like a rock, and go the other way. I don’t care how cute hot sexy rich or talented they are. If you can’t treat another human with dignity and value, I have no time for you. So life lesson learned.

  3. For the life of me, never understood why he’s such a chick magnet. Especially after the banana hammock pic.
