A proponent of an artistic style called Precisionism, homosexual artist Charles Demuth (1883-1935) was well noted during his lifetime for cubist-inflected watercolour paintings of modern industrial settings.
We’d like to draw your attention, however, to his looser, more private work, which captured early 20th century homosocial contexts and characters, like bath houses and sailors, with varying degrees of eroticism.
