Janet Jackson hadn’t done a red carpet moment like this in years, and she picked the BET Awards to break the streak. Walking out to hand Teyana Taylor the show’s brand-new Icon of the Year Award. Teyana saw her coming, jumped out of her seat, and was crying before Janet got to the mic. The two of them stood there holding hands for a second while the crowd lost it.
Janet sported a “2Pac” tee under a pinstripe shirt for her Poetic Justice days with him, and a black fedora pulled straight from Michael‘s closet. She didn’t say much, and let Teyana take the whole moment, cried mascara, and then disappeared again.
