Trans artist Lorenzo Triburgo‘s Transportraits series represents a variety of transgender subjects, in various stages of transition unrelated to their age range of between teen and retirement age, beginning the project around the time he began his own gender transition.
“What I wanted to do was create a project…about my connection to…gender identity and constructions of masculinity,”
Lorenzo painted the landscaped backdrops himself having never previously painted to convey nature as a construct. He also draws parallels between gender and photography as they both can be seen as truths but can be manipulated and misinterpreted: then being more subjective than more traditionally seen as objective in nature.
“For me it’s important to…create imagery that creates positive representations of trans men,”
